Dr.Ann Coughlan, PhD, a former International Foundation student, Humanitarian Work Contribution with NILG in Bangladesh

Dr. Coughlan, a past student, was awarded a Diploma in Social Studies (Honours) in 1993 and went on to complete a PhD in Geography (Rural Development/Tourism Development) in the period 1998-2002 (NUI Maynooth, Ireland). During this period she also worked on a part-time basis as a tutor and lecturer in geography. Later she was employed in educational development in the university sector in Ireland. Most recently she worked at the National Institute of Local Government (NILG) in Dhaka - a research and training institute under the auspices of the Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development. The institute works to increase the capacity of local government throughout Bangladesh. Ann had responsibility for strengthening the institutional capacity of NILG in the areas of research and training and for ensuring the mainstreaming of gender and minority-group interests in all activities.
We wish her continued success in her career and in her humanitarian work, research, writing and training.
